One question that comes up quite a lot, is that of yacht rental. Many of our properties are in idyllic locations across Europe and indeed, the rest of the world. So, chartering or renting a yacht is often on the agenda but sometimes, it is far from obvious as to how you go about this when on your travels.
In this latest instalment of Annabel’s Atlas, we look to answer some questions around yacht chartering so you can get on with enjoying your break.
Want Everything Taken Care Of?
The first question to answer is do you want everything to be taken care of? If so then we offer sailing and yacht holidays for all of our clients and we’d suggest taking a look at the options available to you. The Purnama Boat is an excellent way to experience the islands of Indonesia. We also offer the Sea Safari based in Eastern Indonesia which will allow you to sail around Indonesia in complete luxury.
We also offer advice on where to charter boats from in all of our coastally located properties. When you speak to the team at Avenue Property when booking your luxury accommodation ask about the sailing options at your chosen destination. You can call us on 020 3859 7763 or click here to contact us directly.
If you’re keen to take things into your own hands and rent a yacht yourself, there are a few things to consider first. Luxury yacht holidays really are the ultimate experience, especially if the weather is right and you are in one of the premier locations. But there are a few things you need to bear in mind.
Type Of Private Yacht
If you aren’t an experienced sailor then you can be forgiven for not knowing what the various types of yacht are, but there are two fundamental types you need to choose between.
Few holiday makers will opt for a sailing yacht over a motor yacht, but it is ultimately down to personal preference and the type of experience you are looking for. Both offer similar luxuries and facilities, but if it gets windy the boat is going to tilt and sway. One can take the sails down, but some people like to feel the authentic experience.
This is another example of an instance where having an experienced skipper or a crew will be of real benefit to you as they can help you to make an informed decision of the right yacht rentals for you.
Finally, once you have decided on your preferred type of yacht, the crew you are taking and the correct yacht rental, all you need to do is opt for your preferred destination. You may well have had a good sailing destination in mind from the outset, which is great and your crew will be able to tell you the pros and cons of your choice.
However, it is important to bear in mind that yachts tend to move seasonally and stay in one region for the entire season, so if you have your heart set on a particular yacht that you saw in northern Europe, this may not necessarily be available in the Mediterranean. So, make your enquiries early and speak to the relevant people well in advance to ensure you aren’t left disappointed.
Sixty percent of first time sailors want to be where everyone else is and feel like part of the action, so this is rarely an issue – but if you are looking for something a bit different, get organised and book early.
Avenue Property are always happy to offer travel advice and help you organise your trip right down to the finest of details. You can call us on 020 3859 7763 or click here to contact us directly for anything you need.
