Things to Do

The Garden of Suffolk is blessed with an abundance of gastro pubs, restaurants, farm shops and artisan producers.

Nearby, Mains of Yoxford is a family run restaurant with a great range of dishes for a relaxed weekend dinner. With a menu that changes each day to move with the seasons and availability, everything is cooked on the premises. Treat yourself to a leisurely breakfast or Sunday brunch at the Darsham Nurseries Café. There’s a Middle Eastern flavour to the lunchtime sharing dishes but Pump Street bakery bread, Aspalls Cider and St Peter’s Brewery Beer on the menu keep it local.

One of our favourite gastro pubs, The Unruly Pig, near Woodbridge was recently named Suffolk Pub of the Year and in Walberswick, The Anchor is a firm favourite. At nearby RSPB Minsmere, There’s plenty to do here for both the novice and the experienced bird watcher. Use the bird watching hides to shelter you in all weathers or take the nature trail walk to explore the beautiful woods and wetlands scenery.

For keen gardeners, find peace and tranquillity in the beautiful Grade I listed gardens at Helmingham Hall. Spend the day taking in the sights and smells of the gorgeous flowers, the exquisite manicured hedges and borders, stroll through the orchard and bask in the heady scents of the rose garden.
