El Coyol is a private island located on Lake Nicaragua. This stunning, luxurious property enjoys the most spectacular views. Nestled amongst 364 other islands that were formed when the volcano Mombacho exploded some 20,000 years ago. Over the years this archipelago in the NW corner of the second largest fresh water lake in all of Central and South America, have become a unique and lush wonderland that are breathtakingly beautiful with amazing fauna and flora. El Coyol is a short 10 min boat ride away from the world renowned colonial city of Granada.

Granada is a 1 hour taxi cab from Managua international airport.

Staff and Dining

There is a daily maid service, security, groundskeepers (Red Cross trained in first aid and life saving) and a concierge service.

Guests who wish to cook can enjoy the well-equipped kitchen and can eat inside or out in the covered dining palapa.  Food can be ordered and delivered but there is also a local supermarket in Granada.

Private chef by arrangement at an extra cost.


Things to Do

Granada is a Unesco World Heritage site and only a 10 minute boat ride away from El Coyol. The city has many restaurants, boutiques and museums and is a start point for many trips and tours including  zip lining on the slopes of Mombacho, cloud forest walking at the summit of Mombacho volcano, volcano surfing near Leon, viewing lava flows on the active volcano of Masaya at night and visiting markets including Pueblos Blancos near Laguna de Apoyo and Caterina.

Not being an ocean island, volcanic El Coyol does not have a sandy swimming beach, but if one tires of the 12m infinity pool, the lake can be swum from the beautifully positioned boating dock, which also can be the point for start of any invigorating kayaking trips.
