Goodnestone Park is in the Southern part of the village of Goodnestone, Dover, Kent. It is approximately 7 miles (11 km) from Canterbury.
In keeping with its aristocratic heritage, Goodnestone’s service is immaculate yet discreet. Experienced and expert staff will prepare the house to perfection, greet guests, show them around and melt into the background, allowing privacy and a sense of ownership to prevail.
Food at Goodnestone is a moveable feast. The house can be fully catered or guests may self-cater. Talented local chefs are available to supply luscious lunches, divine dinners and perfect picnics whilst seasonal produce from the gardens is available on request.
Goodnestone’s private house garden is perfect for pottering, a round of croquet or a sunny siesta, whilst the famous 15 acre public garden (aptly nicknamed ‘Sissinghurst without the crowds’) is a horticultural gem, reserved solely for lucky residents every evening and outside opening times.
Getting around under your own steam is a great way of working up an appetite! Grab a house bike or pull on some boots to explore Kent’s pretty countryside, its friendly pubs, fascinating villages, wonderful beaches and celebrated castles and monuments.
Oh the sheer, unadulterated bliss of a massage, spa therapy or beauty treatment in the privacy of your own luxurious room. Goodnestone’s skilled therapists work miracles for height-of-indulgence ‘me’ time whilst also offering individually tailored yoga and pilates sessions.
No Kentish odyssey is complete without visiting the UNESCO World Heritage city of Canterbury and its stunning mediaeval cathedral. Other unmissables include Leeds Castle, ‘the loveliest in the world’, the wartime tunnels of Dover, Howletts Wild Animal Park and Whitstable’s sensational oysters.
‘A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse’… luckily at Goodnestone things equestrian are more accessible. Riding for all abilities, lessons and hunting with the East Kent are easily organised whilst clay pigeon and game shooting at high class local shoots are also available.
As the ‘Garden of England’, Kent’s produce is to die for. Vineyard tours reveal the wonder of local wines, whilst in-house tastings by experts are guaranteed winners. Every gourmet catering option is open to guests, including cookery classes for budding chefs.
Take to the skies in a private executive helicopter to see the sights in style, or for a more tranquil approach, why not drift peacefully over Kent in a hot air balloon for an airborne adventure unlike any other?
