Immersed in a tropical garden, this house is the perfect hideaway for families and friends. Completely unique in design and location, the house will create an unforgettable experience and holiday away.

The house enjoys two living rooms and an inside/outside dining area. The kitchen looks out onto the courtyard and is fully equipped with modern amenities.

A beautiful master bedroom with inside outside bathroom is located upstairs, along with two further double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and one single bedroom. The house sleeps 7 but extra beds for children can be arranged in required.

The house is surrounded by a lush tropical garden which is a bird watchers paradise. Monkeys, mongoose, monitor lizards and squirrels dart amongst the trees. Whether having a lazy breakfast of Nalani’s delicious egg hoppers, or a long lunch of Sri Lankan curry, sambals and chutneys, (all from local produce or catch of the day) this is a place to relax and unwind. The open dining room faces onto the jungle, where women collecting firewood and buffalo stroll past. The house with its internal courtyard and pond is designed along the lines of a Buddhist mandala.

10 minutes from Galle Fort & 15 minutes from the beaches of Thalpe.

Staff & Dining

Nalani, our lovely house keeper will offer the ‘Breakfast of the day’; this could be our local speciality of egg hoppers, string hoppers, Sri Lankan omelette, or a more Western breakfast of bacon (not complimentary) and poached eggs from our very own organically fed chickens. Fresh tropical fruits, bread and jam, freshly brewed coffee / tea are served daily.

With some notice Nalani can cook a delicious Sri Lankan lunch or dinner, from ‘the catch of the day’ (prawns, sear fish /tuna) with a variety of fresh garden salads, vegetables and homemade chutneys.

Staff includes a cook and house lady, gardener and night security. Baby sitters can be arranged.

We can arrange to have you collected and returned to the Airport. Local transport can also be arranged.  Once you are here you can rent a scooter or a three wheeler or commission a driver to look after all your needs.  If you already have a driver we can accommodate him.

Personal services that can be arranged include Ayurvedic massage, yoga, bike hiring, scouting for gems and sapphires or even watching the Kandyan dances under the night sky at Hempel House.
