The large courtyard is home to palm, olive and orange trees. As well as an olive grove and natural farmland, Lagoon Lodge boasts Morocco’s first natural swimming pool. In front of the pool is a lush lawn and loungers behind and a stunning view of the estuary. A large roof terrace with extraordinary 360 degree views can be reached via a staircase from the inner courtyard. If you have the energy, you can play ping pong or badminton.
Built into the side of a gentle slope, the house is on two levels. A number of rooms are built around the courtyard including a TV room, large sitting room, a dining room and a kitchen. The sitting room opens onto an 80 ft veranda (25 m) with a wonderful view over the estuary to the sea, and plenty of comfortable seating from which to enjoy it.
The dining room leads out onto a charming pergola with a large green mosaic-tiled communal table and cushioned seating, wonderful for outdoor meals with the views of fragrant eucalyptus trees along with fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits grown in the extensive kitchen garden.
5 bedrooms, built around the large courtyard situated on the ground floor level. 4 enjoy en suite bathrooms while bedroom 5 has its own bathroom across the hall. Two fold-out single beds are available on request. There are a further 2 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms under the veranda on the lower level. The bedrooms are all spacious, with double beds, attractive rugs and original artworks.
As water is very scarce in Morocco there are no bath tubs at Lagoon Lodge. Water comes from the property’s own well, and we’re sure you’ll understand how valuable this resource is. The owners run an eco-friendly lodge. All the water in the house is heated using solar panels and all the grey water is recycled through various filtration tanks. It is then used to water the garden. 6 bedrooms have ensuites.
"Annabel loves the calm and serenity that the owner has created here."
Ouarzazate makes an excellent base for exploring the Dades Valley, with its pink villages and lush palm groves, and the Draa Valley's awesome Todra Gorge. Alternatively you could saddle up a camel and head deep into the Sahara for an overnight stay amid 650ft dunes. Free from light pollution, this is the ultimate location for star-gazing.
L'Ostrea is a seafood restaurant at an oyster farm on the edge of the lagoon in Oualidia.Modern looking restaurant right on the waterfront serving Oualidia's famous succulent "Marennes-Oléron" oysters and other sea food (depending on the day's catch). Spa treatments are a centuries-old tradition in Morocco. The ‘hammam’ or steam bath is a great way to reinvigorate your body and revive muscles tired from shopping or sightseeing. Dozens of hotels and retreats now offer pampering, massage and beauty therapies; we can pre-book your treatments to fit in with your schedule and to avoid disappointment at busy times of the year.
