Details

This historic building was part of a Kalif’s palace built around 1750. The riad is situated next to the Koutoubia mosque and During the day, Djemaa el Fna swarms with snake charmers, musicians and storytellers and at night it transforms into the world’s largest outside restaurant. The Riad is on the doorstep of  Marrakesh’s famous souk, a meandering market of thousands of stalls. You can walk around in this bewildering maze and discover carpets, handicrafts, the colourful spice market and myriad stalls.

Inside

Like all traditional riads, the rooms all overlook a central courtyard, ensuring maximum light. The courtyard is filled with orange trees, bougainvillea and jasmine giving a lush, tropical feel. The ground floor consists of two reception rooms, a dining room and 2 kitchens.

Bedrooms

5 Bedrooms and 4 Bathrooms; The Master Bedroom is situated on the ground floor and opens out onto the wonderfully lush courtyard with orange trees. Features high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass retro doors. With a four-poster bed, a little sitting area, as well as an ensuite bathroom. The Double Suite is situated at the top of the house and comprises two double bedrooms with an interconnecting bathroom. The view is over the courtyard and the river Bougainvillea.

The Garden room is also situated on the ground floor and enjoys an ensuite bathroom. The Twin room is on the upper level and is bright and airy. Overlooking a shady courtyard, its windows tower over the Bougainvillea wall. The bathroom is elevated and overlooks the bedroom.  The children’s room is situated between floors.

Entertainment

The library houses wonderful books on 20th century art, design, photography, film, local arts and crafts and history.

Staff & Dining

Prices include breakfast. The Riad has a first class cook who specialises in Moroccan food, using fresh ingredients from the market. Lunches are 20 euros per head. Dinners are 25 euros per head. A variety of beverages can be arranged for an additional cost. A Cook, Maid and Caretaker are all included and a multi-lingual House Secretary is available to arrange anything required.
