Annabel chose this house for the combination of the controlled cubic design of the house set in a wild, natural landscape.
Comporta is a wild, totally preserved paradise of dunes, deserted beaches of golden sand, pristine blue sea and beautiful endless pine forests for guests to discover. One can do horse riding on the beach (Cavalos na areia), learn to surf in Carvahal beach, cycle, enjoy the rice fields on canoe, watch the dolphins in the ocean but most of all just relax and enjoy the beautiful light and scenery. Comporta village offers a few nice shops (Loja do, Museo do arroz, Lavanda, Rice and Côté Sud)
There are a few restaurants on the beaches, most of them are very simple (Sal on Pego beach, Dinis on Carvahal beach, Ilha do arroz and Comporta cafe on Comporta beach). For dinner, the restaurants include Dona Bia, known for its fabulous seafood, Museo do Arroz, great for after dinner drinks and music, and the recently opened Cavalarica which has inventive food based on local products.
For the more adventurous, the Alentejo region has some amazing cities to visit like Evora and Estremoz. The Portuguese capital, Lisbon, is also only an hour away.
