The property is approached off a country lane through wrought iron gates, the tarmac drive is flanked by mature trees, lawns and a sheep meadow. The driveway ends at an impressive gravel sweep at the front of the house, bordered by lawns and the parkland. Secluded behind topiary hedges is the tennis court and heated outdoor pool.
The owners are both experts and passionate about property and interiors. They have spent the past 20 years renovating and furnishing this very special home with exquisite pieces and wonderful collections. Every ceiling is adorned with a Murano glass chandelier, elegant fabrics cover the soft furnishings and the artwork that hangs on every wall would rival any gallery. It’s eclectic, interesting, colourful and warm.
The kitchen is warm and welcoming. At the far end, a classic cream Aga and working fireplace give the kitchen a cosy, country feel. There’s a walk in pantry with additional sink and dishwasher. The wooden table stretches down the centre, seating 10 – 12 people. For a more formal setting, the elegant dining room seats 12-14 and is wonderful for entertaining.
The bedrooms are plentiful and very comfortable! 10 super king beds, 6 twin beds and 1 bunk bed, provide generous sleeping arrangements. The master bedroom, en-suite and dressing room overlook the gardens and hills beyond.
In all there are 7 en-suite bathrooms, a further 3 full bathrooms and 3 separate toilets. All of which are light and airy with elegant roll top bathtubs and classic pedestal sinks and heated towel rails.
The Drewe Arms is in the local village pub at Broadhembury - a short walk from the house. It has a great selection of ales and a menu serving traditional pub classics.
