Cetinale’s spectacular grounds are steeped in history. The Villa has large private gardens and a wood to the north, The chapel within the grounds contains Chigi paintings and confession booths. Parts of the villa itself date from 1651, after which the house was gradually transformed into the grand country retreat it is today. Its gracefully proportioned living and dining rooms feature stone floors, vaulted ceilings, large windows overlooking the gardens and woods, and even details like trompe l’oeil paintings.There is a cinema on the top floor and a games room in the Limonaia.

The villa’s thirteen bedrooms combine the charm of period detail. There are six rooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms, two with double beds that share a bathroom, and one with a double bed that shares a bath with a room with two twin beds.
Each of the 13 rooms have a fully equipped ensuite bathroom.

The exterior of the cathedral is pretty impressive, and if you don't have a lot of time in Siena, you might not even go inside and just enjoy the outside. Built between 1215 and 1263 on the site of an earlier structure, the cathedral is in the form of a Latin cross with a slight projecting dome and bell tower. The exterior and interiors are decorated in white and greenish-black marble in alternating stripes, black and white being the symbolic colors of Siena.
